Why do some of Tolvan’s programs want to access the network

Note: This information does not apply to Basta! or Sirp.

My firewall program reports that Tolvan’s programs tries to access the network, what is going on?

When you buy Tolvan’s programs you are allowed to run it simultaneously on the number of computers for which the license is valid. If you run the program on too many computers on the same local network, the programs will inform you that it is time buy more licenses. In order to help you keep track of how many programs you run, the programs need to access the network, so you should give the programs access to the network in your firewall program.

In detail:

The programs broadcast to UDP port 759. During the communication, a computer ID string, the computer, software and user name, and partial license number information is sent. UDP broadcasts are normally stopped at the gateway, so nothing is sent to the Internet, and certainly not to Tolvan Data. If you have a network installed, the programs will not function if you deny them access to the network.
